Description
Bonaparte's Gull, Chroicocephalus philadelphia, resting on Cedar Island beach at low tide. This undeveloped area is located in eastern North Carolina, Carteret county, also known as the Crystal Coast or the Southern Outer Banks. This non-breeding adult will migrate to breeding grounds in the north. Unlike the larger gulls this bird nests in trees rather than on the ground, rarely forages in dumps and has a delicate, tern like flight.
