A pair of wild mustangs clash along the North Carolina Outer Banks. AS these horses clash much and water can be seen splashing up for the wedlands floor. The choice of black and white helps to add drama to the already dramatic scene.
This is a revision of an exixting photograph taken in the Rachel Carson Estuarine Reserve near Beaufort North Carolina. I felt using newer post processig methods I could bring out more detail than what was shown in the original version.
Horses of Spanish Colonial origin have lived wild and free on the barrier island along the NC coast for nearly 500 years. Today only a few locations still hold herds. They are fascinating animals to see and observe.
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
