Here's an overview of the Point at Emerald Isle, North Carolina. The view is from the top of the steps leading over a dune from the street to this beach area. A red flag flutters in the breeze warning swimmers and surfers of a high rip-tide danger. Below a couple sits on a swing and another couple on a bench, enjoying the setting of the sun..
The Point is a large beach area along the Bogue Inlet and Atlantic Ocean at the end of Bogue Banks, one of the barrier islands making up the Crystal Coast. The beach stretches over 400 yards beound the end of Inlet Drive making it one of the most beautiful places along this part of the coast.
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
